Privacy Policy

Our commitment
Tend is designed with privacy at its core. Your personal gratitude entries stay on your device. We collect only the minimum data needed to provide AI-powered personalisation, and you control what you share.
Data we store locally (on your device)
The following data is stored only on your device and never leaves it:
- Your gratitude entries and reflections
- Your profile information (name, age range, gender, persona preferences)
- Your app settings and preferences
- Your location data (if you enable location services)
You can delete all of this at any time from Settings → Data & Privacy → Delete all data.
Data we send to third parties
1. OpenAI (AI personalisation)
To generate personalised gratitude prompts and affirmations, we send anonymous context to OpenAI:
- Your current mood, selected category, and preferences
- Your anonymised demographic information (age range, gender) for age-appropriate personalisation
- Your profile name is replaced with "the person" before sending
- Weather and time of day (if location is enabled)
- We do not send your actual gratitude text or personal reflections
- OpenAI may retain this data according to their privacy policy
2. Aptabase (anonymous analytics) — optional
If you choose to help improve Tend, we collect anonymous usage statistics:
- App screens visited and features used
- No personal identifiers, device IDs, or IP addresses
- You can opt out any time from Settings → Data & Privacy
3. Sentry (crash reporting)
To fix bugs and improve stability, we collect:
- Anonymous crash reports and error logs
- Device type and OS version
- No personal data or gratitude content
Services we may add
- Appcues (onboarding tips) — anonymous usage only
- RevenueCat (subscription management) — if we introduce paid features
We will update this policy before adding any new services.
Your rights (GDPR)
Under the General Data Protection Regulation, you have the right to:
- Access your data — contact us for a copy of any data we hold
- Delete your data — use "Delete all data" in Settings, or contact us
- Opt out of analytics — toggle off in Settings → Data & Privacy
- Data portability — your data is already on your device
- Withdraw consent — you can change settings at any time

Children's privacy
Tend is intended for users aged 13 and older. We do not knowingly collect data from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us.
Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The "Last updated" date at the top reflects the most recent version. Continued use of Tend after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
